World Urban Parks Symposium on 13 - 14 November 2024 at Istanbul Fair Centre

Message from World Urban Parks Symposium

The call for educational session proposals aims to gather information about projects from around the world that wish to be presented at the WUP Symposium. Proposals that are most likely to be accepted into the program are those that align with the event's thematic axes.

"Growing Healthy and Resilient Cities"
We will use the acronym GROW to represent four key thematic axes essential to urban development:

Green Infrastructure
• Focus on sustainable and environmentally friendly urban planning.
• Emphasize the integration of parks, green spaces, and natural landscapes.
• Promote urban biodiversity and ecological health.

Resilient Governance
• Explore effective urban management, policy-making, and strategic planning.
• Discuss innovative approaches to governance that enhance city resilience.
• Cover topics such as adaptive management, regulatory frameworks, and community engagement.

Opportunities for People
• Address the role of urban spaces in promoting play, health, and economic opportunities.
• Highlight initiatives that improve quality of life for all city residents.
• Examine the social and economic impacts of urban design and public spaces.

Water Management
• Investigate strategies for sustainable water use and management in urban areas.
• Discuss the importance of water conservation, stormwater management, and infrastructure.
• Highlight innovative solutions for addressing water-related challenges in cities.

These themes will guide our discussions and presentations at the World Urban Parks Symposium, ensuring a comprehensive approach to the question of how to grow a healthy and resilient city.
