Your Role:
• The design and production of landscape projects from concept to completion

• Undertaking site visits, surveys etc for a range of projects.
About You:
The position requires good all-round skills in design, graphics, presentation, verbal and written communication and a combination of design flair and technical competence. It is important that you have the ability to work collaboratively, articulate ideas and communicate effectively.
• A degree and/or a post graduate qualification in Landscape Architecture or a relevant discipline
• Strong, creative and innovative design skills
• Ideally 2 years professional experience but not essential
• An ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Excellent graphic skills and ability in hand drawing, AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and Revit
• Strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills
Proficient use of AutoCAD, Photoshop and other computer graphics is required as a minimum.
A degree and/or a post graduate qualification in a relevant discipline and membership of the ILI/LI is required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Park Superintendent Grade II - Tree Officer include:
• Collaborative engagement with the relevant managers across heritage services in the delivery of the commitments contained within the Tree Safety Management Policy and to provide such advice and appropriate professional support, as they required from time to time.
• Providing leadership in driving a tree safety culture within heritage services while engaging collaboratively with operational, administrative and technical staff, the public, representative groups and public bodies within the state.
• Further developing the OPW Tree Safety Management System and providing arboricultural & related scientific input into OPW policy documents and initiatives including GIS & technologies advances
• Advising on Industry Standards, Legislative Requirements including Health & Safety and Environmental requirements including their implications and applications for OPW, its employees and visitors

Vacancy and location
The successful candidate(s) will be based at the OPW offices at Whitefields, Phoenix Park, Dublin, unless otherwise agreed with the Director of Heritage Services.
The work is divided between field and office, with travelling envisaged. The Park Superintendent will be required to travel to various locations nationally and stay overnight away from their work base for short periods in connection with the performance of the specified duties. A panel will be formed from this competition to fill any further vacancies which may arise.

Team Lead – Landscape Architecture and Urban Design
Having established a Landscape Architecture practice in 2021 to complement our cities planning and design capability, and following significant growth over the past few years, Arup is seeking an experienced, talented and enthusiastic Landscape Architect to lead this team, helping us deliver on our growing portfolio of projects and provide creative, future thinking on the sustainable development of our Cities, Masterplanning, Streets and Green/Blue infrastructure projects. The role can be based in either Dublin or Cork.
We are looking for a senior level candidate who will bring vision and a strong sustainability mindset to the design of our planning and built environment projects. Our cities, towns, districts and public infrastructure require a transformative approach in the coming years, to deliver on our sustainability objectives. The candidate would play a central role in this, working with our colleagues and our clients to provide innovative urban and landscape architecture design on the projects in which we are involved. This is a Discipline Lead position within our planning team, supporting our transport, energy, water and buildings businesses whilst also delivering work for the team’s own client base.

Current Projects/Skills and attributes needed
- A recognised professional landscape architecture or landscape design qualification;
- Full membership of the Irish Landscape Institute (or equivalent).
- Excellent all-round skill set, including design flair and innovative thinking, coupled with the requisite technical competence, knowledge of landscape planning mechanisms and detailed design and construction experience;
- Good presentation, and written and verbal communication skills;
- A minimum of 12 – 15 years professional experience working as a landscape architect from concept development through to detailed design;
- Previous relevant experience in leading and developing landscape architecture and/or urban design teams in a multi-disciplinary environment;
- Experience of Landscape Visual Impact Assessment work would be beneficial;
- A good working knowledge of AutoCAD and the Adobe suite is required. Revit / GIS software and other digital skills would be a further advantage;
- An ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment;

Overview of New Planning and Environmental - Related Professional Opportunities:
The Department has significantly expanded its staffing resources in the planning and related areas in recent years in response to the resurgence in the Irish economy and an increased requirement for an effective regulatory and policy framework in planning and to meet the developmental requirements of wider society and the economy. The EU and International Planning and Regulation (EUIPR) Unit provides a key service in the integration of environmental objectives from a broad range of EU and national legislation and policies in the climate action, biodiversity, water and other sectors with land use planning to ensure sustainable development. The assessment and management of potential environmental effects of new policy and legislation is critical for the delivery of policies and programmes of Government.
The Department now wishes to further strengthen its team of environmental experts and is seeking to appoint a person at the grade of Assistant Environmental Planning Manager (HEO Equivalent). It is intended to form a panel for the purpose of filling any additional positions which may arise within the Department within the next year.
The Role - Assistant Environmental Planning Manager:
The successful candidate will be required to provide environmental expertise and to assist with undertaking and management of environmental assessments (Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Appropriate Assessment (AA), and other assessments, such as strategic flood risk assessment) where required, in relation to relevant aspects of the Department’s work including the preparation of statutory guidelines, directives or other relevant plans or programmes in relation to the Minister’s functions under the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended, and the regulations thereto, and to any other relevant legislation, as well as assist with the following:
- Managing the development of Government designations of sites for Strategic Development Zones with regard to any requirements for SEA, AA and other relevant environmental aspects;
- Supporting the analysis of statutory plans of planning authorities and regional assemblies (and such other plans and programmes which may be subject to SEA or AA) in connection with the Minister’s statutory functions, including supporting the Minister’s designation as a statutory Environmental Authority pursuant to the SEA Directive, and to advise authorities, assemblies and other plan making bodies of likely requirements;
- Inputting to the formulation and assessment of primary and secondary legislation including in relation to EU environmental directives and regulations;
- Inputting to the formulation and assessment of guidance documents or guidelines with respect to EU environmental directives and regulations;
- Liaising, as necessary, with other Divisions of the Department and with other Departments, local authorities, key agencies, the professions, industry and other stakeholders on mat ters of mutual interest and concerns in the planning environment and related fields, with a view to influencing and supporting the achievement of positive outcomes.
The successful candidate, working under the strategic direction of the Environmental Planning Manager in the EUIPR Section, will be required to:
- Undertake research and data gathering and stakeholder engagement within demanding timeframes;
- Manage and direct supporting research and analysis by stakeholders;
- Represent the Department at meetings, conferences and other fora both at home and abroad; and
- Carry out such other duties as may be assigned by the Environmental Planning Manager or the Principal Officer from time to time.
Experience and Skills:
The successful candidate must demonstrate a high level of proficiency in relevant research and analytical capability but also the ability to perform as highly effective communicator and manager of complex processes, bringing a proven track record of interpreting evidence covering a range of topics or sectors, combined with excellent IT skills, and the ability to make compelling arguments for decision and policy makers at senior management and political levels.
Essential requirements:
Candidates must on or before 21st April 2023 have:
- An Honours Degree (level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent) in ecology, environmental science, natural sciences or a related area;
- A minimum of four years post-qualification experience, at least two years of which must relate to undertaking/management/review of statutory Environmental Assessment, Appropriate Assessment processes and associated environmental reports, preferably as part of statutory planning processes, and the interpretation and implementation of relevant environmental policies and legislation as key day-to-day responsibilities;
- A capacity to communicate complex issues clearly;
- Demonstrated ability to show leadership and be highly responsive in an evolving role;
- The ability to work well as part of a team and take ownership of projects, in accordance with best practice;
- An in-depth understanding of the relevant issues comprising a detailed understanding of relevant EU and Irish environmental legislation, as well as the Irish Planning system.
- A full and current driving license that enables the holder to drive in Ireland.
Desirable:
- Experience of working in or with relevant Government agencies or Local Authorities.
- Experience of leading environmental research studies/postgraduate qualifications in a related discipline.
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS) experience.

About You:
The position requires good all-round skills in design, graphics, presentation, verbal and written communication and a combination of design flair and technical competence. It is important that you have the ability to work collaboratively, articulate ideas and communicate effectively.
You will be competent dealing directly with clients and have the confidence and experience to manage projects independently. Where possible, applicants should demonstrate with examples, their experience in working from inception to completion. Proficient use of AutoCAD, Photoshop and other computer graphics is required as a minimum.
A degree and/or a post graduate qualification in a relevant discipline and membership of the ILI/LI is required.
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in Ireland.
A full driving licence with access to a car is required.

Executive Landscape Architect (5 Year Fixed Term Contract)

The City Council now invites applications, from suitably qualified persons, who wish to be considered for inclusion on a panel from which vacancies for Landscape Architect may be filled. The initial placement will be in the Councils Infrastructure Delivery Directorate but the successful candidate may be assigned to work in/for other Directorates over time.
The Infrastructure Development Directorate is responsible for the planning and delivery of capital projects in the areas of roads and transportation, urban regeneration, urban expansion, parks and amenity services, flood protection, and public realm renewal. The Directorate works closely with a number of funding agencies including the National Transport Authority, the Department of Transport, Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the Office of Public Works. Key objectives for the Directorate at present include the delivery of the Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy (CMATS) (and in particular the cycling, walking and public transport improvements envisaged therein) the delivery of flood protection and public realm improvements and urban regeneration (including Docklands redevelopment).
This represents an exciting opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic Landscape Architect with proven experience to join the Council and work with a number of multidisciplinary design teams in the planning, design and delivery of new infrastructure in Cork City.

- hold an honours degree (level eight in the National Framework of Qualifications) in Landscape Architecture or an equivalent professional qualification,

Responsibilities

Qualifications and Experience

- A recognised/accredited degree in landscape architecture or a related design discipline, a track record in graphic skills, familiarity with engineering and illustrative drawing packages including AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and/or Illustrator, and QGIS, and have a confident approach to design;
- Ideally candidates would have membership of Irish Landscape Institute or UK Landscape Institute and be chartered or working towards chartership;
