First Public Consultation on Ireland's draft National Nature Restoration Plan
Nature restoration is one of the greatest opportunities to improve Ireland's landscapes, biodiversity and climate resilience. The Irish Landscape Institute (ILI) is pleased to have submitted its response to the First Public Consultation on Ireland's draft National Nature Restoration Plan.
Our submission calls for:
- Landscape-scale nature restoration and ecological connectivity.
- Nature restoration to be embedded within spatial planning and development.
- Nature-positive development through Green-Blue Infrastructure and Nature-based Solutions.
- Meaningful urban nature restoration.
- Support for farmers, fishers, foresters and landowners in delivering restoration.
- Public investment and long-term funding for restoration.
- Strong governance, implementation, stewardship, monitoring and evidence to ensure successful delivery.
