IFLA signs MoU with the South African Council for the Landscape Architectural Profession (SACLAP)
The Memorandum of Understanding between the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) and the South African Council for the Landscape Architectural Profession (SACLAP) marks a significant step toward advancing global collaboration in landscape architecture education and professional recognition.
Although IFLA Recognition and Accreditation has currency among member associations, this has yet to be fully formalized in consideration of the peculiarities of each association. In this sense, this agreement is a first and establishes a structured framework to ensure mutual recognition of educational programmes, aligning accreditation systems at national and global level. Importantly, the agreement fosters transparency in accreditation processes, encourages inter-institutional dialogue for continuous improvement, and supports the expedited recognition of IFLA-accredited foreign programmes within South Africa.
This collaborative approach not only raises academic and professional standards but also strengthens the global landscape architecture community by promoting consistency, trust, and shared values across regions.
