In this webinar we will look at the importance of well-designed school grounds for the children and young people who use them.

A presentation by Mary Jackson will highlight some of the key needs of school pupils ranging from learning and play to nature connection and understanding climate change and how these can be addressed through good school grounds design. It will draw upon more than 30 years of experience from Learning through Landscapes (LtL), the UK’s leading national school grounds charity, as well as looking at examples from around the globe.

This will be a taster of some the themes that are covered in LtL’s accredited training programme for designers who work in and with schools – a programme designed to ensure school grounds are created that respond to the needs of pupils, staff, the wider school community and the planet.

Mary is Head of Education and Communities at Learning through Landscapes and co-founder of the International School Grounds Alliance. She delivers LtL’s training for designers and is both a teacher and Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute.
